Chayora completes first phase of huge 300MW data centre campus
Fri, 11th Jan 2019
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Chayora recently held a formal event to celebrate a milestone in its massive 300MW hyperscale data center campus in Tianjin, China.

In June last year the company shared details on the facilty amid the fact that it was nearing completion, but now it has officially completed the first phase of its ‘TJ1 Data Center' and is now operational. This follows the completion of all primary infrastructure, building, support facilities, and a first data hall for customer use.

In its current state, the TJ1 facility will (after bespoke customer equipment installations) support up to 3,600 racks at a 10kW average IT load per rack across six data halls. As its name suggests, TJ1 is the first phase in the campus, which when finished will have nine major data center facilities across the 32 hectare Chayora campus.

Chayora's Tianjin hyperscale data center campus will serve the greater Beijing region that is home to more than 150 million people in the JingJinJi mega-metropolitan area of northern China.

The company affirms it has been keeping above international standards in terms of infrastructure development, design, construction and site security, and health and safety, and intends to carry this on by setting new benchmarks in operational management.

With the first phase complete, Chayora is wasting no time in expansion as it asserts there is a need for rapid progression given significant wider Beijing regional demand.

The company is immediately on to organising two further data centers on the same campus with up to 60MW IT load, which will come equipped with the option of a ‘speed to market' use of the Chayora standard high-performance powered shell and bespoke MEP or a full ‘build to suit' including shell with construction of both planned to commence in Q2 2019.

The campus operates with carrier neutrality after Chayora managed to secure agreement and connectivity from the three principal national telecommunications network providers.

Chayora also revealed the site is now equipped with the capability to run high speed (up to 1TB/s) point to point dedicated connectivity from each of the nine data centers on campus to any location in the Beijing/Hebei/Tianjin tri-province area, providing optimal latency and unlimited bandwidth for customers networking between existing points of presence.

The company affirms there will be a direct <2ms connection to the Beijing IX in Jiuxianqiao to provide access to multiple nationwide and international cloud on-ramps.
