Hewlett Packard Enterprise is bulking up its cloud consultancy expertise with plans to acquire consulting company Cloud Technology Partners for an undisclosed sum.

Cloud Technology Partners is a Boston-based cloud-agnostic cloud services and software company which provides design, build and implementation services for enterprises moving to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google and Openstack and other cloud platforms.

CTP will become part of HPE's Pointnext IT services organisation.

“CTP's consulting, design and operational advisory services for cloud environments will strengthen our hybrid IT consulting expertise in a fast growing market,” HPE says, with the company adding that it believes most enterprises will operate in hybrid IT environments ‘for the foreseeable future'.

The vendor notes that hybrid IT consulting and cloud native development if currently valued at around US$6 billion, according to McKinsey, with the market growing at more than 18%.

“Together, we will be even better positioned to capitalise on this market trend,” HPE says.

“The CTP team has built strong customer momentum and will be able to accelerate that momentum by leveraging HPE's global brand and go-to-market.

HPE says CTP's architects have designed, built and implemented IT solutions for Fortune 500 clients, completing almost 500 enterprise cloud transformation projects since the company launched in 2010.

Earlier this week HPE announced that it has completed its US$8.8 billion acquisition of Micro Focus, creating the seventh largest pure-play enterprise software company in the world.
