Lenovo answers key ‘I B When?’ question…

Lenovo will complete the acquisition of both IBM’s low-end server unit and Google’s Motorola Mobility business by the year-end.

That’s according to Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, who dismissed growing concerns regarding the closure of the IBM deal.

"Both deals are under the approval process in the two countries and they are progressing," he said.

"We hope to complete the two deals by year-end.”

Speculation has been rife Lenovo’s plans to acquire IBM’s server business hit shaky waters while the US government investigated national security issues.

But Yang was quick to put the issue to bed, insisting: “The U.S. government...and U.S. Army are all our clients. There has been no issue and we will keep this tradition."
