Revera joins Microsoft Cloud OS Network

17 Dec 2013

Revera is gearing up to spearhead Microsoft’s Cloud OS Network in New Zealand.

The Microsoft Cloud OS Network offers customers a hybrid cloud infrastructure based on Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V, System Center 2012 R2, and Windows Azure Pack.

Set for go-live in the first quarter of 2014, Revera’s Microsoft Cloud Platform offering is geared to public sector organisations and available via the Government ICT common capability IaaS programme.

Microsoft Cloud OS Network rallies functions for developers and IT managers, including tools to quickly deploy scalable apps; unified systems and identity management across clouds, applications, and devices; and IT stack virtualisation.

“The alliance with Revera combines Microsoft technologies with local cloud expertise to provide customers with a flexible platform solution,” says Paul Muckleston, Microsoft’s New Zealand managing director.

“The Cloud OS vision provides consistent infrastructure across customer data centres, Windows Azure, and service provider clouds, and provides customers with more choice and flexibility,” he said.

Revera CEO Robin Cockayne adds that Revera’s innovation budget drove a development programme of local cloud services that featured many Microsoft technologies.

“Clients want this technology from the cloud, but they’re sensitive about data sovereignty," Cockayne says. "Revera is a safe, home soil alternative."

Revera’s alliance with Microsoft started in 2002, when it launched hosted Microsoft CRM to local integrators. In 2007 Revera was one of eight global partners to participate in the Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V rapid deployment programme.

At that time Revera also rolled out Microsoft System Center to manage its Homeland services platforms and the provisioning of Hyper-V virtual machines.

Earlier this year Revera launched a cloud-based suite of Microsoft productivity services, called Revera c-Stack.
