Symantec announces all-in-one backup app

Symantec has revealed the all-in-one Symantec Backup Exec 3600 Appliance, designed to offer a simpler way to build more business.

The security experts say the 'plug and play' backup and recovery for virtual and physical systems provides a simple, complete and cost-effective backup solution.

With integrated software and hardware in a compact form factor, Backup Exec 3600 Appliance comes with one vendor, one license and one support contract, boosting revenue and shortening the sales cycle.

Symantec says the system unites protection for virtual and physical servers, applications and databases, while reducing time-consuming setup and management.

With an ability to maximise backup performance and storage with integrated deduplication and V-Ray technology, Backup Exec 3600 Appliance reduces business downtime with bare-metal recovery and granular recovery for files and applications.

Key features include:

• Install in minutes, configure and manage easily from one intuitive wizard-based GUI

• Purpose built with market-leading Backup Exec 2012 backup and recovery software, plus 5.5TB storage

• Protect an unlimited number of servers and applications, virtual or physical, while reducing the backup window, storage and management costs

• Easily restore an entire server, virtual machine, application, file/folder or individual object from a single pass backup in seconds with patented Symantec V-Ray technology
