Talend accelerates big data pipeline development for Microsoft Azure
Mon, 17th Jul 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Talend has released a new set of connectors for the Talend Data Fabric platform.

The global cloud and big data company are aiming to help customers rapidly migrate their enterprise-wide data sources to Microsoft Azure to build more intelligent and scalable cloud data pipelines for real-time analytics.

“Today's companies understand cloud technology is becoming the new growth engine for their business and are eager to bridge legacy, on-premises data with the new world of cloud-powered big data lakes,” comments Ashley Stirrup, CMO, Talend.

“Teaming with Microsoft allows us to deliver a complete solution for scaling big data workloads in the cloud.

“While other data integration solutions only connect with a few data sources, our Summer ‘17 release of Talend Data Fabric includes in-depth, native functionality to help customers quickly migrate a broad range of on-premise data sources to the Azure cloud and optimize cloud data pipelines, speeding time to insight.

According to Talend, these new connectors for Microsoft Azure allow customers to:

  • Simplify cloud data pipeline creation for Azure developers
  • Easily integrate streaming and historical data for contextual insight
  • Quickly migrate on-premises data to the Azure cloud
  • Scale data quality for big data using Spark-powered data matching and machine learning
  • Improve DevOps productivity for managing security and configuration on big data clusters

"We are happy to work with Talend in its comprehensive support for Microsoft Azure,” says Lance Olson, director for Microsoft Azure at Microsoft Corp.

“The breadth and depth of the integration they offer for some of our flagship services across Hadoop, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Storage and NoSQL enables our enterprise customers to make full use of all the Azure cloud services and expedite their cloud-first strategy."

According to Talend, Newgistics, a provider of end-to-end commerce solutions for retailers and brands, needed to consolidate siloed systems onto a unified data warehouse to deliver a “single version of the truth” to enable better business decisions.

“Right now, we're moving our multi-terabyte, on-premise legacy data into a Microsoft Azure data lake to reduce the time to organise and analyse data for decision making from several hours down to 15 minutes or less,” explains Puru Agrawal, vice president of Data Services at Newgistics.

“Having the ability to access the data lake eliminates the risk of ‘breaking' a transactional system when responding to business analyst requests for more data, enables far faster turnaround and unlocks our ability to apply machine learning for new insights, prediction and decision making.

Agrawal concludes, “Talend provides us with the data replication and transformation capabilities needed to develop a data framework that fundamentally changes the way we do business and increases customer satisfaction.
